At the R Lazy S, kids and teens enjoy their own unforgettable Western adventure. With dedicated counselors and wranglers, our youth program gives parents the freedom to enjoy their own activities while younger guests dive into the heart of ranch life—horses. The riding program includes lessons, fun gymkhanas (games on horseback), half-day trail rides, and full-day rides to nearby mountain lakes. Kids typically ride with their own wranglers, but family rides are offered throughout the week, including a breakfast ride to the fish pond and a scenic lunch ride to Phelps Lake, complete with a leap off “the rock” into the refreshing water.
Off the saddle, the fun continues. Our recreation room offers indoor games and space to unwind, while the outdoor area features a volleyball court and horseshoe pit. Evening events include softball, capture the flag, s’mores by the campfire, talent night, and even group trips to the rodeo—making every day at the ranch full of energy, laughter, and lasting memories.
Our kid’s counselor offers a variety of fun non-horse activities including tubing, swimming, hiking and exploring off the ranch, scavenger hunts, lawn games, and (on particularly rainy days) indoor crafts + games.
Daily after-dinner activities for the whole family include kickball, capture the flag, guided excursion to the rodeo, s’mores by a campfire, and talent night.
Most days our kids program eats in their own dining room with their new friends, separate from the adult guests, making mealtime enjoyable for everyone. Several meals, like our chuckwagon breakfast and our BBQ night are shared family style seating.
A note about Supervision: Our Kid’s Counselor is available to do activities with your children only during specific hours of the day. The Ranch is not responsible for your children when kids’ activities are not scheduled or if your children choose not to participate in an activity. We ask that you mind your children during these off-hours. Kids’ Schedule will be posted in the lodge, cabins, and provided to you at check-in.
